Regents Scores are now in Eschool

Regents scores are now posted in Eschool.

Some of you did an outrageously good job, and you should be as proud of yourselves as I am of you.  For many of you, your hard work - either all year or one you realized you needed to make a change - really paid off.

As a reminder, passing the Regents is separate from passing the course.  I have posted this in the past, but am reminding you of the State Examination Policies.  The ink is below, as is the paragraph that applies to passing the Regents but earning a failing grade in the course (see te last sentence below.)  I reviewed each affected student on an individual basis based on your overall performance in the categories listed in the first sentence.

Enjoy your summer!

SECTION SIX AWARDING OF CREDIT AND ISSUANCE OF REGENTS DIPLOMAS
Awarding of Credit for Courses of Study
A course of study involves class attendance, homework assignments, quizzes, tests, and other instructional activities. In many instances it also involves the taking of a State exam at the end of the course. When deciding whether a student who is enrolled in a course of study has satisfactorily completed the course and is entitled to credit for such course, the teacher should evaluate the student’s performance on all these activities. In accordance with Section 100.5(a)(5)(v) of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education (http://www.p12.nysed.gov/part100/home.html), passing the Regents Exam in a subject shall not be construed as having earned a unit of credit in that subject unless the student also passes the course as offered in a registered high school or meets the requirements for credit by exam. (See section below, Students Not Enrolled in Courses of Study.)

Regents Scores

We won't start grading US History until Tuesday at this point.  You can call your Guidance Counselor, or maybe check Eschool, Friday for your grades.  They should be back from BOCES/NYS sometime that day.  I will not have special access to them, I only get them once they're in Eschool.  I have no access to email while we grade so will not see any emails you send...which means I won't be responding to any emails you send.  Guidance, Eschool, and your report card are whee you will find your Regents score, once it becomes available.

Enjoy your summer!

"Clean up"

1.  I HANDED YOU THOSE ESSAYS!!  The geography essay followed the outline I gave you, right down to the choices I picked to outline.  You had at least 2 of the 3 DBQ topics also outlined in the essay pack.  Just like the Global kids, this test was literally handed to you in advance.  I hope you studied those essay packets.

2.  You grades are finalized in Thinkwave.  Remember, any extra credit points you receive from begin eligible for them & attending review won't show up in Thinkwave, they will show up on your report card since they are added directly onto your 4th MP average.

3.  Remember that passing the course is separate from passing the Regents Exam.  It is possible to pass both, fail both, or pass one but not the other.  Failing the course &/or Regents Exam means summer school or a delayed graduation date.

  • If you failed the course, you need to see your Guidance Counselor ASAP for an application & details.  If you don't know if you failed, check Thinkwave.  Look at your averages for the 4 MPs, add up, & divide by 4.  If you are close to or under 65, see Guidance.
  • If you pass the course but fail the Regents Exam, you can sign up for a prep class (Regents Review) that usually runs a couple of weeks prior to the exam as well as the August Exam.  You cannot walk in & take it, you MUST register for it with Summer School.
  • Of course, I hope you worked hard & passed both!  If you did, enjoy your summer off & get ready for your Senior Year!!

Handed right to you, but some dropped the ball...

Pay very careful attention...remember that essay packet I gave you in you came to school, on time on 5/29?  I gave Global kids one for their course.  Guess what happened on their Regents?

The Thematic Essay was on important documents.  I gave them an outline on it 2.5 weeks ago.  If they read it, they would have sailed through.  Form the looks of it, they not only didn't read, but also did not do Quizlet on that theme.  They had everything the needed to ace that part, and never bothered to prepare.

Same for all 3 of the DBQ topics...they were covered in the same essay pack.  And, again, no preparation as I have told all of you to so countless times.

Start using Quizlet, and start reading that essay packet...
