Extra Credit Opportunity - Read to the End

UPDATE 4/14: All grades are finalized & entered into your report card based on your Thinkwave average for the 3rd MP.

Do this exercise:
1. Open up Thinkwave & go to your 1st MP average.  NOT YOUR REPORT CARD GRADE.  The actual, mathematical grade you earned, which is what Thinkwave has.
2.  Get out your phone or calculator.
3.  Take a full sheet of paper & put a heading on it (your name, my name, your course, & put "What I Need" instead of the date/as the assignment
Ready?

Here is what you need to do:
1. Write 260 on your paper.
2. Subtract your 1st MP average from Thinkwave from 260 (write "1st MP" next to it.)
3. Subtract your 2nd MP average from Thinkwave from that remainder (write "2nd MP" next to it.)
3. Subtract your current 3rd MP average from Thinkwave from that remainder (write "current 3rd MP" next to it.)  Your 3rd MP grade isn't finalized yet, so this is an estimate.  This can go up or down depending what you do this week as far as HW, online exams, participation, etc.
4.  Write "What I need to pass the course" next to the final remainder.  That number right there is what you need to earn the 4th MP to pass the course.  This also assumes a passing regents Score, since 260 is 65x4...so you need to get at least a 65 on the Regents for this to be accurate.
5.  Have your parent sign it

I will hold it for extra credit.  I am not announcing what the credit is at this time.  Whether you do this is up to you to you know where you stand.  If all of the steps above are not done, no credit will be granted.

EXAMPLE:

If you have "already passed" - EXCELLENT WORK!  Don't screw up the 4th MP because you still need to pass the Regents Exam, and it will look bad to colleges!

If you need a grade that is a failing grade any other MP - GOOD WORK! Don't screw up the 4th MP because you still need to pass the Regents Exam, and it will look bad to colleges!

If you need a 65 or better - THAT'S NORMAL!  Don't screw up the 4th MP because you still need to pass the course AND Regents Exam!

If you need a score that's over 100...you are mathematically our of luck when it comes to passing.  I highly suggest coming to school from 6:45- 7 am on Monday, 4/15 to have a conversation about this.  Depending on you, there may be a way for you to salvage your year, but this is your one shot.
There will be no other day we can have this chat.
